Brongest/Troedyraur area ? old signs ....
« on: Saturday 09 July 11 10:50 BST (UK) »
We visited Cardiganshire a few months ago and whilst driving through the country lanes from Newcastle Emlyn to Troedyraur (we were looking for St Michaels church - which we missed the first time but found it on the second attempt) we passed a shop in the middle of nowhere that was covered by old advertising signs, concentrating so hard on the road we stupidly didnt stop to take a picture - and I am wondering if anyone has a photo of this shop

That was probably in Betws Ifan. He used to be the blacksmith. I don't have a photo but if we go through there I'll get one for you.

It certainly sound like the Lion smithy in Bettws Evan. It is the family home of the Jones family - David and Hannah Jones had many children (12 at the last count,) and the smithy was well known in the local area. David Jones used to make ploughs, one of which is on display at the St Fagans Museum and many of which were destined for export to the Welsh communities of Patagonia.
