Obviously night shift as well? :-X

I have found her in Lovells  directory  of Montreal, now in 1930-31, working as a stenographer.  I think the family were at some time in the area of Trois Rivers.
So it looks as though she left at some point and came to Montreal. At his invitation?  Oddly her sister in law was married to a Judge Slipp in Fredericton, so they all must also have been interested/involved in the political scene?

I cant work out though what happened to the child?- away at school? She would be 16 in 1934, so must have been aware of the situation? Perhaps she lived with her grandmother Mcintrye, the Massey grandparents long gone.

It is 10 years before the entry in the Edmonton directory for William, so he must be elsewhere at this time...

There is a second reference to her on page 63 of that publication, where her location is given as Outremont.
There is a another event where she is mentioned, but of a more personal nature ( nor is it proven truth)  so will p.m. the url.

Imagine it was a typo that you have William George Massey born in New Brunswick, but the family is in Chatham Kent ONTARIO on the 1901 census, and I also looked at the CEF signup and he states born Ontario, living New Brunswick. Plus I will post his parents should any descendants find this query and want to join in...
George William Hughes Massey, Edith Margaret Birrell  http://www.thepeerage.com/p24854.htm

1901 http://www.automatedgenealogy.com/census/ViewFrame.jsp?id=55942&highlight=12
They do end up in New Brunswick in 1911, York Region  http://www.automatedgenealogy.com/census11/SplitView.jsp?id=24742 where George is now a Bank Manager & Margery a bank steno...
Perhaps Mary was a bank steno as well. ( Wm was a bank teller as well...at CEF signup)

Thank you for that! I have been travelling the map trying to get people in the right place. I got mixed up with the two Chathams at one point.

He was married firstly in Bathurst NB, then again  months later at St Jaques, Montreal by dispensation. Then off to war.

His mother and  2 sisters are buried at Fredericton. NB. Where his father was a Bank Manager..as you found.

I guess that Banks at that time transferred their staff around, so perhaps the address at  St Julie St, Three Rivers, was soon after his return to Chatham in 1919 on demobilization.

The relationship seems authenticated. They travel together on the SS Queen of Bermuda in September 1937. Where he lists himself as Prime Minister of Quebec. Hardly a  secret!   :-\

He dies in 1957 I think in rather curious circumstances it seems, as according to other reports ---all the medical documents are missing.  And not the true location. Was she there then? who knows?

I imagine he calls her his "steno"  ;D
Your confusion would have begun when you saw his signup where he works for the bank of Montreal in Chatham N.B.  http://data2.archives.ca/cef/gpc010/487110a.gif

1949 as M. I. says W.  4166 V Horne Avenue ( probably Van Horne)

here she is at 52 Thornton Ave. in 1958 so she was still in Montreal then...Now calls herself widow of W.G.
http://data2.archives.ca/cef/gpc010/487110a.gif
also there in '57
http://bibnum2.bnquebec.ca/bna/lovell/src/1957/4.Annuaire_montr%E9alais_des_rues/T/110773_1957_0507.pdf
and '59 http://bibnum2.bnquebec.ca/bna/lovell/src/1959/4.Annuaire_montr%E9alais_des_rues/T/110773_1959_0530.pdf
and '60 http://bibnum2.bnquebec.ca/bna/lovell/src/1960/5.Annuaire_montr%E9alais_des_rues/T/110776_1960_0724.pdf

You can continue the trace forward & back using "Annuaire montréalais des rues" as if she is now retired, she probably won't show in the alphabetical directory

Along the way I also saw an M Massey ( or other spellings) at apt. 3 3170 Maplewood which, along with Fairmont is also in Outremont...
