The 1841 Census (in fact the one and only census in South Australia) does not name Thomas BRIDGEMAN.

The Index notes the "births" of Susannah and Alexander were taken from a Church Register.  Another researcher believes they were twins.

If Alexander was born in Melbourne 1841 Thomas was probably in Victoria 1841

NSW had early VIC records and Alexander only was listed in the birth index for 1841.

Thanks everyone for your help. All info leads me to believe his wife Sara (Newitt) did not die before Thomas left Australia for NZ .  He was in Nelson NZ and married my GGGranmother (Jane)in 1843.  They moved to Australia 1845.  He left her (Jane) in Queensland about 1852 and married Sarah McAdam in Adelaide in 1854.  Is there anyway of finding out when he arrived in Adelaide from Qld ? silly question maybe?

Did they get divorces in those days?

Thanks to all who have helped.  You all do a great job.
Regards
