 I figured out who P H Amey/Amery is ...

he is born Ontario in 1893 as Percy Hartman AMEY ...with that I found a family tree which gives this info:

Percy Hartman Amey = Margaret Annie BARLOW ... 'our' Maggie  ;D
17 Oct 1922, Montreal

Alfred had disappeared !  ::)
Travellers = Penfold, Orchard, James

Nothing on freebmd for a birth for Frederick/Freddie Barlow in the Hereford RD between 1900-1902

Nothing under Newman either

Hi Carole

Just found this

Frederick Cecil Gurney Barlow
Father: Alfred Barlow
Mother: ANNIE
Birth: 4 Apr 1901
chr: 16 Jun 1901, Madley, Herefordshire

How did he get to take the children with him?? Nellie and Ethel would have been older but Maggie, Grace and Freddie were just babies!

No wonder I couldn't find a birth - he is just Cecil Gurney Barlow on freebmd

So who was the mysterious Mrs Barlow/Newman.  Can't be Annie as Dorothy would surely be with them as well

I have checked the 1901 to see if there was a likely female Newman living in Madley - zilch

The only one who was single and around the same age as Alfred was an Elizabeth Newman 32 - servant working in Whitchurch.  There were 5 others who were married - but there again - so was Alfred!!

Any Newman children on the 1905 PL

Hi Sue ...thanks for that ... I am not up on Wales place names and the typing was awful!

Carole ...I also looked for a Newman woman in Madely with the same results.

Alfred left with her and the childen in 1905 from Liverpool..... what would have made him do that? If he was having a fling with the woman, why take his children. Annie must have been going crazy without them. It's so strange ...men don't usually riun off with young children ...I wonder what happened?
