wozzle

I think that you are correct.

From other information, following backwards from my wifes father, everything you have found indicates you have found the information I was looking for.

Thank you very much for your help.

Thanks for all the help, but now I have to work out where Joseph was in 1841 :-[

As shown, his parents were in Kirkligton in 1841, and Joseph was in Blackburn in 1851, as a draper, but where the blazes was he in 1841 ??? ???

I have found several Josephs in 1841, ranging from Ag Labs, most unlikely, to a possibility as a shoemaker, or in the residence thereof.

All I have to work out, with your help, is which one. I think the shoe maker is most likely, BUT.......
The shoemaker is
HO107/847/Bk6/26/7
Joseph Turnbull, 30, occ shoemaker
Joseph Turnbull, 20
Robert Turnbull 2mo
Jane Turnbull, 25
Jane Turnbull, 2

why not an ag lab in 1841 after all his father was a farmer
the one whom you posted says in 1841 born in northumberland
your one was born in cumberland
i know it is not unusual to have the wrong county down as birthplace in 1841
but it is still a minus
having said all this i cannot find one that fits the bill exactly in 1841
cattell,alcester
vickers,sulgrave
hewish,holborn
manley,bethnal green
barnes,bassingbourn
