Hi Jayne,
I have a few Jemima Bibbys but no Henry Finch.
Can you give me any dates for their marriage or for their children?

Hi thank you for coming back to me so quickly.

This is what i have so far;

Jemima Bibby born approx 1867 died 1966 married Hency (also known as Harry) Finch between 1880 to 1890 no official records their children with approx year of birth
Emily Finch - 1887
Ester Finch 1889
Mary finch - 1891
Edward - 1894
Elizabeth Betsey - 1896
Joseph - 1899
linda 1901
Samuel - 1901
Elvina - 1903
Francis (girl) 1905
Henry - 1907
William Ernest 1909

I know Jemima did move into a house eventually aginast her will, but i wanted to try trace Jemima's family or see if the children continued to live within the romany community or lke their mum moved into a house.

Hi,
I haven't got access to Ancestry at the moment. I assume you have got those details from the census.
Can you tell me where Jemima was born?
If they were travellers it's quite likely that they didn't get married. It's also possible that Jemima was previously married to a Bibby.

There was a teacher at Dr Challoners GS in Amersham, Bucks called Neil Bibby, back in the 1980's.

I know someone who may know his whereabouts now, if it is of interest.

Not funny - Neil Bibby hanged himself in 2002:

I reckon that Jemima Finch nee Bibby is on the 1911 census at Chigwell, Essex with some of her children. (FamilySearch). The census says she was born at West Maldon, Kent which doesn't exist. So this would be Maldon, Essex which is close to where the Romany communities were.
Unfortunately I still cannot attach her to her parents as there are too many options and she doesn't seem to appear on earlier censuses. A birth record is required.

There also appears to be a Jemma Finch at Lambourne, Essex in 1901. This may also be Jemima.

This has now been confirmed to be her but no birthplace listed.

I have been informed that Henry and Jemima are on the 1891 census with surname Finde.
Jemima's age is given as 21 so I think that she was born in 1869 at Malling, Kent (FreeBMD) with the enumerator making an error in 1911 in saying that she was born in West Maldon, Kent.
So she could be the daughter of William Bibby and Rosetta Wright who don't appear to have married.

Hi Steve - I have a Bibby branch in my tree. I downloaded your gedcom (thanks!) and my people appear in your tree, but with slightly different details. What's the best way to share with you? Not sure if you can see my tree on Findmypast http://tree.findmypast.co.uk/#/trees/df9527e9-81c2-4f81-9e7d-a0371bf45599/1018588439/profile this is a link to the furthest back Bibby I have: James Bibby b1795 Great Horkesley, Essex.  We both have James Bibby being married twice, but in your tree you have both wives maiden name being "Church".  Do you have evidence of Harriet's surname? Do you know if the wives were related? Thanks so much for your time.
Best wishes
Lolly

Have today received Harriet and James Bibby's son Philip's birth certificate: Harriet was formerly a "Church" - so maybe James' two wives were sisters after all.

Hi Lolly. Welcome to Rootschat.  :)
I cannot access your tree on findmypast. The best way to share is by email - stephenbibby (at) yahoo (dot) com
My info about the Church sisters(?) only came from my contacts on Rootschat. I have no verification so anything you can give me will be welcome. You can see all my sources on my database.
Cheers
Steve
