*Completed* Elisabeth Daisley Brith Help
« on: Tuesday 26 July 11 02:58 BST (UK) »
I was wondering if someone could help me find the birth cert for my GT GT grandmother Elizabeth Daisley. i think she would have been born round about 1864 but i don't no where abouts in Donegal she would be. her father was William Daisley and her mother Catherine Bonner. the two surnames have different spellings, perhaps if we are lucky there will be a marriage cert for those too as well. so far i no she has a brother called James born round about 1867 and another brother called Thomas born round about 1873. the Family immigrated to Hamilton in Scotland before 1881 as there is a census for them there in Hamilton and then a year later Elizabeth married John Devine, my GT GT grandfather. any help would be much appreciated.

Several of the children are listed in LDS database but not Elizabeth. Civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 so it's possbile she was born just before that date. Registration of Catholic marriages also started in 1864 so for both events you'll need to see if church records exist.
Scottish birth certificates list date and place of parents' marriage. The birth certificates for the children born in Ireland will also help to narrow down the place they lived in Donegal.

Children of William Deasley & Catherine Bonar:
1.  Thomas born 21 July 1865 Raphoe district, Co.Donegal- page 363 in civil register
2.  Hugh born 9 Dec. 1866 Raphoe district, Co.Donegal- page 353 in civil register
3.  Mary Anne born 21 July 1868 Raphoe district, Co.Donegal- page 354 in civil register
4.  James born 4 July 1870 Raphoe district, Co.Donegal- page 358 in civil register
5. Mary born 17 Apr.1873 Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland (parents William Daslay & Catherine Bonar)

Back again,

I looked at the brith cert for mary and it must be correct i think she died later on as she is insnt on the 1881 hamilton census, my elizabeth isnt on the census either i think she else where at the time.

It says william and catherine where married in 1860 in the parish of roey (not sure as the writing is bad) in ireland, i dont no if that would help you find out where they were.

Can you post just that portion of the certificate to see if we can figure out the parish name?

That's the Parish of Ray - short for Raymoghy. If you obtain one of the Irish birth certificates you might be able to pinpoint the townland they lived in.

William Deasly married Catherine Bonner on 16 Nov 1860 in Drumoghill R.C. Church - see Donegal Resources site.

A few more baptisms of children born to William and Catherine
