Thankyou mosiefish - you just beat me to it. The records sent me scouting for my Regeneration Trilogy books

Has anyone found an obituary for Ferdinand Capel Hanbury Williams, Ada's father, or one of her brothers, as I'd like to see if she was mentioned or if they'd disowned her ?

That's what I thought GS, interesting story this, it just gets better and better. It would make a good film.

groom, I never imagined this would turn in to such an odyssey. Ada's brother appears to have risen quite high in the ranks and her family could trace its lineage back to the Plantagenet royal family (allegedly). It would make a wonderful film! Unfortunately I haven't the talent and as a callow youth I am not best placed to author such a piece!

The father was only about 56 when he died; wonder if the events had any bearing on his demise.  And the estate was sold off; it didn't pass to the sons.

I'd imagine the whole affair caused something of a scandal- still searching for an obituary for her, her brother or her father

I'm also looking for obits and came across The Dundee Courier & Argus (26 Sep 1888)
The Heiress and her Groom - The daughter of Mr Ferdinand Capel Hanbury Williams. the Abergavenny landed proprietor, whose sensational elopement with her groom some few months ago caused so much comment, has taken up her residence with her husband at Leamington.  The latter has recently been temporarily employed as a groom by the Earl of Aylesford at Packington.  The couple appear to be getting on fairly well together, although their resources are 'strictly limited'.
What a strange piece!
Will keep looking for obits!
