assuming that's William's birth name, then there only seems to be one good match for him on the BMD Index

  Name: Male Ruddy

and these are the only good matches I've found for him (under his initials) on the 1901 census - one in the South Dublin Union (workhouse) and the other in the North Dublin Union :

Also looking at a British Home Child sent to Canada by Rev Doherty on the Dominion, slightly later date leaves 21.2.1907 arrives Portland 3.3.1907
I wondered if the poster was able to find out further information

Interesting to note when William WalKer Ruddy son of Lizzie a servant was baptised by the Rev Dougherty there were two other children baptised around same time, John Collard Knowles son of Sarah 57 Wellington St and David Hayes son of Violet 32 Stafford St.
