Hello Bollie and welcome to Rootschat

You will need to give people a little more information please

'who fought in 1916' presumably means in WW1, but do you have any idea how old he was?  where he came from?  Which country's armed forces was he in?

Also, if coming further forward, note that you mustn't put details of anyone living up on a board, to protect privacy etc.

Good luck!

Hi,

Thank you for the advice.

The information I have to date:

James Quinn - killed in the Easter Uprising Dublin, Ireland 1916
According to 1916 records he was 42 at the time of his death but I have not been able to verify his age through church records online. If this age is correct that would mean that he was born in 1884.

He was a painter and left behind a small family. James's son was my Grandfather.

Bollie - perhaps you could post Jame's wife's name please, to assist other Rootschatters to assist you.  Might also be an idea to request the moderator move your post to the Dublin board (just click on report to moderator bottom right hand side of your post), you should get a lot more help there.

Cheers,

Janet.

Hi Chode,

James Quinn was my dad's Grandfather.

My dad was Francie Quinn who was born and grew up in Crumlin. His dad was Leo Quinn, son of James. I have found paperwork through the Irish Census and also details about James's background. Although he seems to be a man of mystery. Are you based in Dublin?

I would be interested in making contact.

Hi Chode and Bollie, you could try the Military ARchives in Dublin for information about James Quinn: www.militaryarchives.ie.
