Hi Hugh,
Thanks for the quick reply. And yes, I meant to type 1828. Since the daughters don't line up, I think I may have errantly grafted in the John McKillop from Ballygarvey into my tree. I know my Ann McKillop was born in "Ireland" about 1800-1801 according to the 1861 census where she was 60. I've only picked up her trail in Leicester as a widow and can't figure out how/when she got from Ireland to eventually settle there after her husband, John's death. With Elizabeth's birth at sea, I guess the Royal Navy is a bit far fetched, isn't it?

I'm wondering if you may have any advice on where to look next. All I really have to go on is that my Ann McKillop, wife of John McKillop gave birth at sea. I can't seem to find any passenger listings in Ancestry.com or census/marriage/birth records prior to 1837 when Elizabeth was born. Are there other resources I may be overlooking?

having a mild interest in Tithes Applotment Books 1823-1837 and knowing some of its failings, ie biased, incomplete etc etc and its simplicity as an record. nevertheless often so useful and also as a link to Griffiths valuation the names below extracted from the work of the Irish Genealogy Hub’s index to the individually civil parish
The relevant original books are in the
Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) Belfast
I thought it useful to list in case anyone is unaware of its existence

Thanks for that, Ash6000, and welcome to RootsChat.  But David died in 1805!

Does anyone know who his wife was, and what children they had?
McKillops were evidently thick on the ground in Tickmacrevan (and elsewhere).
It's a pity the tithe applotment books (and Griffith's valuation) don't give more details that would help us to establish relationships or ages.
Bagwell of Kilmore & Lisronagh, Co. Tipperary;  Beatty from Enniskillen;  Brown from Preston, Lancs.;  Burke of Ballydugan, Co. Galway;  Casement in the IoM and Co. Sorry wee Hugh, that's a mistype on my part, it should read

David McKillop Esq.
Late of Glenarm,
who died on the 9th day of
July 1805,
aged 77 years.

The fact that he became a magistrate, might be another area to investigate.
