I remember  :)

And today there's images online  :)  Rev Knopwood's baptisms :

Ann, born 21 April 1817 (so nearly 200 years ago) no father named, and mother as Mary SAVAGE of Hobart.  Rev K baptised Ann on 26 August 1818.

Fingers crossed overall too  :)

JM

Actually that entry names the father as Lawrence - and mother as Mary so I think we can dismiss them  - for 'my' Ann anyhow.  ;)

No, Wiggy, perhaps you are reading the entry above the one I refer to.   I am referring to Mary SAVAGE's baby, Ann, NO father named.   Have we followed that baby into adulthood, or is she a possible baby to become known as Ann RANSOM....

Yes Wiggy,  :D and the original poster commenced the thread after reading through one of your threads on your Ransom and McNally forebears, and their adopted daughter Ann.  As I recall we had not ever sorted out Ann RANSOM's parentage.  And here's a new poster mentioning Ann RANSOM and also commenting about CUMMINGS in VDL and mentioning AMOS and perhaps extra curricular activities.   I can see that the  Original Poster has not been online for several years, but that you did reply back when the thread commenced.   :D

Have you sorted out Ann RANSOM, if so, I will remove her from my "elusive" list of "not yet sorted".  If you have not sorted out Ann, perhaps either or both Ians may like to consider Ann SAVAGE as a possible and check if Mary SAVAGE may have been transported, perhaps from Ireland, and perhaps have known to look up an Irish lass, C C McNally....

Very true - no not sorted yet but I will have a look around and see if this leads anywhere - as you say, a co-incidence of names so . . . .

I have a feeling DavidC had a go at this one!  Still - worth a second look. ;)

Only thing I can find out about Ann Savage is that she was born 21 April 1817 and baptised 1818.   That is encouraging . . but . . . . .
No other info forthcoming by my means of searching.

Can't find Mary Savage on Convict registers - but have lost any skills of doing that.

... Can't find Mary Savage on Convict registers ....

https://linctas.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/client/en_AU/names

Briefly, Mary SAVAGE tried at Dublin 1814, sentence 7 years, to Sydney per Alexander, and then per Kangaroo to VDL 1816.   No mention of a baby, but there's a secondary sentence in July 1818... (would that cause Rev Knopwood to have baby 'fostered' by others ?)  and several more later too.

ADD
Also on board the Alexander from Ireland was a lass surnamed McNally .... Elizabeth McNally
