Looking for Numan Bell Smith

Looking for Numan Smith or any descendants, son of John & Mary Ann (Russell)Smith. He was born 4th June 1869 at Pluscarden, Elgin, Scotland... Siblings were, Charlotte 1852, Penuel 1854, James 1856, William 1859, Helen 1861, John 1863, Ann 1863, Thomas 1866. On 1881 census Numan is living at Torehead Croft, Pluscarden, Elgin.

Hi... Newham { Nunam ) Bell Smith .....emigrated from London to Sydney on 04-10-1907 on ship Oroya.......75 day trip ...he was 37 yrs old .....I can find no more .......Katie

WOW Katie, that's amazing. I'm just looking on Familysearch right now for Numan. From what I have about Penuel she was married 3 times, the last husband being Gerald Hillier in Australia & had 9 children in total. Where do you come in to the family tree & where are you located. Penuel was my 1st cousin 4 times removed. Regards Jan

Hi there ....Penuel and Alexander had a daughter Elizabeth in 1877 and she then lived with her Grandparents in Elgin, while her parents went their own ways......Elizabeth then had a daughter in 1894 named Elizabeth ......this Elizabeth was my Granny on my Dads side and she was fostered/adopted by a family called Sutherland from Forres Moray.....I can find very little about Alexander and Penuel  and no mention of a divorce before she went to Australia....do you know any more ?? Hi Katie, I have the dob re Elizabeth, the daughter of Alexander & Penuel  but nothing else. Did you know she also had a daughter before Elizabeth. Jemima Jane Douglas dob. 18/8/1873 at Pluscarden, Elgin. Penuel & the father James Douglas never married. Jemima married Robert Brander 29/1/1892 at Torhead, Pluscarden. It looks like Jemima also lived with her grandparents as she is at Torehead on 1881 census aged 8 & Penuel was re-married in Australia in 1880.
