Freeman of Peebles
« on: Monday 15 August 11 20:55 BST (UK) »
I am still asking for a freind so please bear with me.
My freinds father was awarded 'Freeman of Peebles'.  He apparently joined up during the war, not sure which one...was under age when joined up...went to the war, got shot in the eye and when  he returned was given this honour.  The family are not sure why but would like to find out a bit more about this as he never spoke about it.  His name was Christopher (Kit) Buchan.
Any help would be great.
Regards,
Lynda

Hi Lynda,

All soldiers returning from WW1 were granted the Freedom of the Burgh in 1919.
