Do you think that perhaps James Belshaw might have moved to Belfast?? Here is one who is a pawnbroker (and watchmaker??)

Belshaw, James & John, pawn brokers, 2 New Durham Street and 49 Devis (Divis) Street

There are lots of Belshaws mentioned in Marriages etc. on AncestryIreland

http://www.ancestryireland.co.uk/

Are you sure that your Margaret was from Lurgan?

Hi there,
I am looking for any information on a Richard Belshaw born ~1770 Shan(k)hill, near Lurgan. This information came from his army discharge records in 1809. Its also stated he was a weaver. On discharge he moved to London, England, married and had a family, from whom I am descended. Thereafter his surname has been spelt Bellshaw. It is our understanding that his forbearers were French Huguenot refugees.
I would appreciate any help please.
Kind regards
Jocelyn

Have you got Richard's marriage details?
His father's name should be on the certificate.

Unless he married after civil registration started in England (1837) there won't be a certificate. A church record of the marriage might, or might not, include his father's name.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
