Parish records lookup - James Blyth(e) "COMPLETED"
« on: Wednesday 31 August 11 04:12 BST (UK) »
James BLYTHE, wife Agnes and children Andrew 7, James 5, John Robertson 5 and Helen 1 arrived in Canada from Scotland 23 Jun 1929 on the Athenia. They settled in the Minto/Chipman area of New Brunswick. Some sources say son John Robertson was b. in Cupar 31 Aug 1925. Mother Agnes , b. ca 1901 possibly in Dundee. Her maiden name "may" be FALCONER.

I would like to confirm Agnes'  maiden name by finding their marriage and finding their parents would be a real bonus.

Thanks for reading!

Hi Suzanne

On SP there is a likely candidate marriage
1921 BLYTH JAMES FERNIE AGNES CUPAR
You will get parents there.
John Robertson Blyth born 1925 Cupar
Agnes Fernie born 1901 Cupar is likeliest birth I found.

Hi Suzanne

Looks like the marriage I mentioned above may be the correct one. On 27th August 1921 at Newtown, Cupar, Fife, James Blyth (20), milk salesman, son of Andrew Blyth and Jessie Ritchie, married Agnes Fernie (19), laundry (?)  maid,  daughter of John Fernie and Helen FALCONER. So that's where the name Falconer, which you mentioned, would have come from.
1889 FERNIE JOHN R FALCONER HELEN CUPAR /FIFE

Dod, Thank you SO MUCH! It looks like you struck gold for me. I have found out that their daughter's middle name was FALCONER, so now I know where that came from. You made my day.
Thank you again,
Suzanne

Agnes Fernie is the sister of my grandfather, William Fernie. I would be interested to find out more about her family in Canada, as for Scotland, ancestors found going back to 1499 having found a family link to an existing family tree.
