I have James Cheyne married to Mary Saddler/Sadler 1840, Peterhead. I also have children Helen no date of birth, Robert 1843, Peter 1844, Christina 1846, John 1850, Joseph 1851, Williamina 1853 who married Thomas Irvine 1880, Thomas 1854, Andrew 1856 who married Marjory Blair 1885, Mary 1859.

I have looked on S/P web site and have visited Register House in Edinburgh, went through them closely, didn't find many at all, hope someone can help.

Hi
Thanks for replying and with the http the website opens. Had a quick look and very impressed with it. Thank you once again.

I do however have a query  on the 1881 census James Cheynes occupation is a Tailor, but on some of the certificates that I have it is a school teacher. I am certain it is the right family, it is really confusing me.

I don't have census access at the moment but maybe Carole who found them earlier could tell you his profession on those census? Have you tried Freecen? It's not totally comprehensive but you might find him there. He may just have changed his job as he got older but teacher to tailor does sound a bit odd!
