Sorry, I haven't come across either of those so far.

You could try http://www.italiangen.org/VRECLIST.stm for the marriage - with variations on the surnames.

Howard Gardiner. Born 30th August 1896 and died November 1978
Last Residence -   11238  Brooklyn, Kings, New York,
and Last Benefit -   11210  Brooklyn, Kings, New York,
SSN was issued in New York (Before 1951)

Hi Sandra,

I have had a check for the marriage but nothing seems to come up.  Are you able to find any passport applications for any of them such as Mary or William to see if I am able to confirm that this is my great aunt Mary.

Thanks for all your help as always it is very much appreciated

Kieran

PS Can you find them travelling on a boat from Ireland or Scotland to America?

No sorry - no passport applications.I don't think passports were required for entry into the USA until about  World War I. - someone will correct if that is wrong.

The history of the United States Passport

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_passport

William Gardiner's immigration date was not very clear and I saw nothing to positively identify him or Mary in 1896.
