Hi,

I had a look for some information for you at one of the libraries I visited this week and found one article on Heathburn Hall in "The Kinsale Record" vol 5.  The article was by Vincent Murphy & Donal O'Leary with an acknowledgment to Mr Richard Henchion, the famous Cork historian.

It states that Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Bateman purchased the house in  1918 from Col. Shaw.  It also says
that Mrs. Bateman was one of the Cottrell family from Lehanaghmore, Farmers Cross and owned the land on which Cork Airport now stands.

If you want to send me a PM with your email address I can send you some more information.

Hi Celtic Liberty
I am the great granddaughter of L-Colonel FG Shaw and would be very interested in any info you have on him or Heathburn while he owned it.
Kind regards

Hi FDAV,

I am one of the Bateman's who currently farm the lands around Heathburn Hall at the moment. A local historian put together a booklet a number of years ago about the Shaws time in Cork. It was requested by the Shaw family currently in Australia - Relations of yours I am presuming. I have a soft copy I can email you. Give me a PM with your email address

Nigel

Welcome to Rootschat FDAV.

In order to send or receive PMs (private messages) you will need to have a minimum of two posts, so if you just acknowledge this you will be ok.

Best of luck

Hi FDAV,

I am not connected to Heathburn Hall or any families associated with it.

I just replied to a query from a lady in America and helped her with some family history.

I can't help you on the Shaw family but Nigel.Bat has offered you some history which will be very helpful to you.

Regards
Mary

I came across this chat on 5th November 2021 so joined Rootschat today and this is my first post.
I have been researching my wife's family and am interested in finding out more about her grandmother, Nora Beryl Shaw, the daughter of Lt Col FG Shaw who lived at Heathburn Hall.
I see that nigel.bat has a document that he might be able to forward to me and look forward to hearing from him.
Regards,
Anthony
