Can someone answer this please
« on: Friday 09 September 11 07:50 BST (UK) »
I recently received a 1839 marriage certificate from the GRO for David Thomas at Llanelly, Vol 26 Page 820c.

On the same page of the GRO it had an Ann Thomas plus two other names. It was the Ann Thomas I was hoping to match up with. When I received the certificate David Thomas had married Charlotte Lloyd. When I looked up Charlotte Loyd on the GRO it came up as Vol 26 Page 820d.

What I would like to know is why is the page numbers different.

If you look at the original typewritten Index form, Charlotte Lloyd is quite clearly marked as Volume 26, Page 820C.

So, looks like a transcription error?

Thank you both that has answered my question.

No omega I did not put the Brides name. As their were only four on the page I thought their would have been a match out of thoes four.

Many thanks for your help.

On the 1841 census David and Ann Thomas both aged 30 with daughter Mary aged 1 are living at Garnfach, Llanedy. This family are still living at this place on the 1911 census.

I am trying to find a marriage for this couple.

I did get another marriage certificate David Thomas and Ann Jones widower and widow but have not been able to confirm if this could be correct, married 6th Sept 1839. Residence at time of marriage Bres Angel Town. David's father David Davies? and Ann's father William Jones.

Any help would be very much appreciated as I have been going around in circles with this one.

Have you managed to find young Mary's birth certificate? This will give her mother's maiden name.

I have ordered six certificates for their children. Four for Ann my Great Grandmother born 1847 and two for Rachel born 1852 and all have been incorrect. I don't think this family registered their children and I am a bit reluctant to keep sending for certificates when the children had such common names.

Their were only two possibles for Rachel and I thought one would be correct so I was very disappointed when both were wrong.

why don't you try the registrars for the birth cert instead of the GRO? They will search for a match on your info. Are any of the children born very close to a census? If so, you'll have the likely address for the birth.

http://www.carmarthenshire.gov.uk/english/living/registrars/pages/familyhistory.aspx

It won't work for the marriage record as you need to know the church or chapel where the marriage took place.
