Kelso - Rosebank Cemetery - PAULIN
« on: Monday 12 September 11 21:42 BST (UK) »
Would anyone have access to the above cemetery records?  I understand there is a surname PAULIN buried there and I would very much appreciate the information.

Thank you.

Terianne:  Thank you very much for the information from Rosebank.  It was very helpful - they are connected to our line and none of us knew they were there.  I am beginning to think that because part of the family was in Kelso, it was thought that was where our Mary PAULIN was born in c1816.  It is proving to be a very difficult find, and we've been looking for 22 years.

Thanks again for your kind help.

I had a look on familysearch.org and keyed in  mary paulin scotland and 2 in ladykirk came up in 1822  parents george & helen and john & alison

Very much aware of the Paulin family of Ladykirk - they are ours - all of them!  The two Mary Paulin's in 1822 are not our Mary sadly - we can account for both of them.

Our Mary Paulin married Andrew Teague in 1843 at Lamberton Toll, Ayton, Berwickshire, Scotland and in 1852 she, husband and three children migrated to Victoria, Australia.  She had one son aboard the ship and another in Victoria.  She died there in 1889.

It is her death cert. that gives us Kelso for her birthplace, but it also gives us other information we know is incorrect, so Kelso is a bit dubious - although we have searched the whole of Roxburghshire  just in case and almost all of Berwickshire and as far south as Newcastle Upon Tyne in Northumberland.  She just does not seem to want to be found.

But we keep looking - oh her parents are supposed to be James Paulin and Mary Curl - we think that is probably correct - but without a birth record cannot prove it.

I appreciate your interest and note on Ladykirk.  Thank you.

The records for birth of baptism for many of the children of James Paulin and Mary Curle are in Northumberland but are not available online since they were not CoE.

if you know the parish which they belonged to in Northumberland - go to the Archive on the 6 flr at Newcastle upon Tyne, City Library - they have a brilliant set of parish records for the whole area - in hard copy registers of B M & some D - it includes most nonconformist churches  - or alternative contact the Library archivists and they'll look for you - probably at a cost though
