The Racehorse Inn, Widemarsh St, Hereford

I am trying to find out if there was such a pub of this name in the middle/late 1800's in Hereford, Widemarsh St particularly as i am trying to trace a family member who was the publican, can anyone help please. I am new to Roots chat & this is my first post.

It's actually easier to search by th name of the publican!

Have you tried Historical Trade Directories, such as Kelly's and Pigott's?

Yes there was a Inn called the race horse the building was still there the last time I visited although it is now called something else these days. It's in Newtown Road, close to the canal basin.

I think the property is called Karlos now.

If you google earth it there is a good view of it.

I have not heard presonally of an Holister Street in Hereford.

I would suggest it is HOLMER Road, which is in Hereford - probably poor writing by the census enumerator?
