Germany - KRETSCHMER
« on: Thursday 15 September 11 15:04 BST (UK) »
Hi

I wonder if anyone can give me any information whatsoever on a Joachim M Kretschmer B: 1.4.1916 (Jewish).

He came over to England before 1943.

Cheers.

Do a search at www.movinghere.org.uk and you will find two records regarding the exemption from internment during WWII for:

Joachim Kurt Martin KRETSCHMER, Date of Birth: 01/04/1916, Place of Birth: Munchen

I'll see what else I can dig up.

Jewish bearers of this unusual surname came from Upper Silesia, in particular the town of Bytom (Beuthen in German). This is now in Poland, southeast of Wroclaw (Breslau).

If you are related you could obtain Joachim's birth certificate from the Registry Office in Munich.

Hello
I saw this thread as I think Joachim is a relative of mine.... do you mind if I ask what’s your line of research? .... and also what have you learned?

Thanks
Dan
