John Hurdle b1804 Wareham
« on: Sunday 18 September 11 14:15 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am trying to locate the parents of John Hurdle (Hordle) born in Wareham in 1804. Searches seems to bring back that the parents were:
George Hordle
Sarah Hordle
But I cant locate anything on the parents.
It is suggested that John wife's name was Elizabeth Laws, and yet I cant locate her birth information, again of Wareham Dorset, or her parents.
Any help would really be appreciated as I appear to have reached a brick wall!!

Thanks
Quentin

Hi,

Welcome to Rootschat.   :)

Have you looked at the great variety of records available on the Dorset OPC site?

http://www.opcdorset.org/

You can search by parish or a general name search.

Hiya
Thanks for that already been through that, which is why I'm stuck because everything seems to imply Wareham as birth & home and marriage place but it doesn't appear in the records on OPC for Wareham.
Thanks
Quentin

Thanks for that, as identified that's the parents, the interesting thing is I can't locate anything for either parent.
So whilst they were married in Wareham, their history seems hidden.
Any clues, because this is where I'm stuck I can't find the history on either parent

Thanks

Quentin

Perhaps a trip to the Dorset History Centre in Dorchester to search those Parish Registers that have not been put on line yet.

Thanks, it does seem the way forward as I've reached a temporary brick wall.
Appreciate you taking the time to assist.

Have you found any further information on John Hurdle and Elizabeth laws?  I have hit the same brick wall and am not able to do any ground work in Dorset since I live in the United States.  Any information that you could provide would be helpful.

Hi
No, I have found nothing at all in my searches, with any information on either of the two people. I think the only way is a search in the archives in Dorchester, whcih I have been unable to do.

Best Regards
