Do you have a birth cert for John ?

This would show his place of birth and Elizabeth's maiden name, which would help locate a marriage of James and Elizabeth and take you a step further back..

Hi all, I am seeking any information on a Joseph Fleming who married Mary Lay on 8th July 1788 in White Colne, Essex UK.  On the 3rd December, 1789 Joseph joined the New South Wales Corp. He was promoted to Sergeant in January 1790. They arrived on Australian soil, as part of the Third Fleet, on the ship “William and Ann” on the 28th August 1791.

Does any one have these Flemings in their families?
Cheers

Hi Joan ..... not sure if I can help.
I have a "David" Fleming in my tree who married Sarah Brown 22 Feb 1859 at Parramatta and Sarah died at Tamworth 27 Feb 1912.
I can only assume/strongly at this stage that Alan was a descendant of David.

Joan I have corrected my earlier post it was David Fleming not Alan and I am looking through old detail relating to Sarah Brown to see what turns up.

Hi Joe
We have been told that some of our Flemings were at Tamworth.  Cora Fleming's family were there or so the story goes. Not sure though.  Cora's Father was Prosper Fleming and he was the son of George Fleming. They were at some stage at MacDonald River.  Do not know if we have an Alan and Sarah but will keep looking.  Thank you for your message.  If you know of any of these Flemings please let me know.   My site is at..  http://www.safeandsoundstorage.com.au/familytree/gray/fleming/fleming.html
Cheers
