Walter Acton Osborn HOWE - any info.
« on: Sunday 25 September 11 10:07 BST (UK) »
My ancestor, Walter Acton Osborn Howe was born in Woolwich, England on 6.12.1877 and moved to Australia where he died.  I'm told he died before 1914 and I think it most unlikely that he went to Australia before 1900.  If anyone has any information on him I'd love to hear it.

Thanks

Hi deeiluka
As Slipper appears to be offline, Walter's parents were:
Walter Joseph Osbourne Howe & Frances Louise/Louisa Howe (nee Acton)

Hi Dee & Dazey

Thanks for your interest.  Dazey is right on the names of his parents - Walter Joseph Osborn Howe and Frances Louisa Howe (nee Acton).  Unfortunately I don't know the name of the state.  I know it's a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack but I hoped that his rather unusual name might help.

Thanks

Hi Leanne

This is certainly a possibility.  The only downside is that he wouldn't have been 40 until December 1917 but I don't know how much the records would have been open to this sort of error.  Do you know if there is any way that I can pursue this to get more information?

Thanks

You can purchase he certificate via the website, if a formal certificate is needed follow thet "buy now" prompts, plastic card required for this purchase.
As you probably are only looking for confirmation and not requiring a formal certificate use the transcription agent option.
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/howToTraceYouFamTree.htm#TranscriptionAgent

There will not be much family as the informant probably did not know the family details, age of 40 will be an estimate, its not so much error with a  certificate like this but lack of personal  knowledge about the person.
The informant was probably someone from the hospital, doctor etc.
The Coast Hospital  (Prince Henry), no longer exists.
I don't know if any records for the hospital exist and if so where they would be kept.
