Hi, thanks for the replies, I have just re-checked the death certificate,

 Walter James Reed b 20 June 1911 in Leicestershire, he always said Oakham(not far away)
Died in Coventry in 1980.
married and had one daughter, married Clara Howell in 1934,
father Walter George Reed b abt 1875.
dont know mothers name.

if you have his fathers name, i presume you have Walter james's marriage certificate? what was his fathers occupation?
