Hi Mtoto,

I really don't know how to thank you for going to all that trouble on my behalf.  It is sad about George Frederick's grave, and I must admit that I was half expecting it, however, I truly am most grateful for the extra information you have supplied- it is just fantastic.  I was always given to understand that the butcher shop in High Street was no longer there, so what a bonus that is. The grave of Isabella Schellenberg wife of John Albert refers to the daughter-in-law of George Frederick and Mary.  Isabella's father, as far as I know had the Lord Boyne pub opposite the butcher shop where John Albert also worked helping his father. Perhaps this is how they met.  Isabella (nee Stoker) and John Albert were only married two or three years before her death.  It's also new information about Mary living at 24 High St. as a widow - all I was aware of was that after she left the shop John Albert ran it for a while and Mary was living at Abelard House, Nevilles Cross, so you have provided me with many more doors to open as it were.

Once more thank you so very very much.

Kind regards,

Hi mtoto,

I am going to be forever in your debt.  What a thrilling find, I knew that Arthur Schellenberg, the youngest son of Mary and George was a school teacher but don't know much else about him.  It was suggested that he taught at Pelton Roseberry School in Chester-le-Street, but as yet I haven't found any evidence to suggest that.  I didn't know about his army service details which are a great find.  The only other information I have on him is that he too changed his family name from Schellenberg to Sheldon but not until about 1919, this was done shortly after his mother died and if my theories are correct, just before he married Dorothy Hall. They are both interred in Chester-le-Street cemetery.

Do I have to be able to visit Durham to find out more about his service record, or do you know if it can be viewed on line at all.

Again many many thanks, I do so appreciate your help.
