Looking for the death of my great grandfather William O'Neil. Born 1851 Maryport Cumberland. Married Catherine Kirby in Swansea 1871. 1881 census in llanelli. My grandfather Joseph O'Neil born 1889 in 1891 census Catherine is a widow. William was a merchant seaman. Any information would be appreciated.

I can't see anything in Llanelli area, and of course he may have been buried at sea or abroad. You can pay to view the Crew Lists 1861-1913 online at:
 http://www.findmypast.co.uk/clip-crew-lists-search-start.action

There is an 1881 voyage for your William available, so you could find out the ship, and maybe track him from then.

There is a possible death age 36 in 1888 March quarter at Liverpool (obviously a Port)
Liverpool volume 8b page 132

You could check whether the occupation matches as a criterion for purchasinh the certificate.
