1901 Sintonville avenue Pottinger Mary Eleanor McDermott is with her aunt Mary and John McGowan.
There is also a death for a Catherine McDermott age 70 of that address in 1900, registered by the coroner not a family member.

Have been doing a bit of digging on Edward McDermott and his family with the new details you found and MAY have found a bit about Edward and why children were with his mother & sister in 1891!

Still checking and cross checking but meanwhile here's a birth announcement for his eldest son-
Belfast Morning News, 9 May 1879: M'DERMOTT— May 8, 5, Malone … Belfast, the wife of Edward M'Dermott, of son.

This is just unbelievable, this is my other halfs relative, but, he already has another family member, not a Ewing associate/ affiliate who was also trading in Bank street and ended up in Hamilton prison for bankruptcy.
That is some coincidence  ;D ;D

Once again thank you so much.

I have found Annie Ewing/ McDermotts death in Dennistoun in 1886, age given as 36 with mother Maria Knox.
Edwards occupation is stated as being a draper (he registered her death)
Either age is wrong or Edward was under the impression that Maria was her mother as Agnes Knox was still living in 1850 and married to James.
It seems she died after giving birth to Mary born 1886, post partum haemorrhage 2 days.
