Should have said earlier, ownership of the burial plot  when Maria died was James, when he died it had passed onto an Albert Ewing, but when I searched the Belfast cemetary site they had no record for him.I have tried the IGI but cannot find him to try and establish who he was :)

Thought Albert Ewing in Belfast? would be easy to find but suspect if he was born in Ireland then it was before birth registration (1864) and perhaps died after 1921 (latest date for online civil registration index).

Might not be connected but I did find this plot which has a later Albert-

City Cemetery: E1 708
John Ewing (c1875-9 Oct.1893, 15 Derwent St.)
George William Ewing (c1893-5 May 1894, 15 Derwent St.)
Albert Ewing (1889-23 Apr.1890, 49 Solway Street) father Andrew
William Henry Ewing (c1877-22 July 1900, 15 Derwent St.)
Thomas McKeown Ewing (c1883-27 Jan.1917, 15 Hatton Dr.)

If they later turn out to be connected I can post the details I found on them.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi Jasiain,

PRONI hold this document, which might prove useful:

I recently purchased James son Williams death cert on SP, he died age 63 in 1911 Glasgow, on it his mother is now a Margaret Lafferty ???It is the right William as fathers ( James ) occupation is given as clerk in workhouse, wifes name and registrant all confirm this is the correct cert.I can only assume that his daughter understood that Margaret Lafferty was her grandmother? This family are becoming really confusing ;D ;D Any suggestions greatly appreciated :)
ps thanks for the above Jasian

Even though I have the date of death for James Ewing I have never been able to find his death certificate, and its not for want of trying ;D
I would be really grateful if fresh eyes would take a look.

He died Belfast,7th June 1878 Thanks

I can’t see the death either. I have checked both GRONI and the irishgenealogy site. I would phone or e-mail GRONI with the death information you have (which is pretty clear and specific), and ask them to check the original registers for Belfast to see if the death is there but has been overlooked when the records were put on-line. If it’s not there, then the conclusion would seem to be that it wasn’t registered, which did happen from time to time.
