I see on the marriage certificate of Mary Murray (maybe his sister) there is a John Murray as Witness.  The marriage was in 1864 in Moffat.  If this is the John Murray I am looking for would he have lived far away from Moffat?  Or could her father have be a witness?

You might strike lucky if you go to this page and use the search function.  There's over a hundred entries for "John Murray"!

Hello Bruce

Thank you for the information you gave me but still cannot find the John Murray in my family tree.  I'm starting to think that he has moved away from Canonbie and Langholm

Hi again oletta, i,ve been rooting around in johns family trying to find him, nothing definite so far but i found some info on richard which you might like, he married jamesina little in 1861 aged 21 ( she was 20 ) in canonbie, it gives his usual address as lynniecleuch or something similar, ( cant make it out ) his mother janet wylie is deceased but his father john is apparently still alive, his occupation is given as shoemaker

Hello akc

Thank you for information.  But would you have a look on the Lanarkshire Board and look under Thomas Murray this is Jane and John's brother and also would you mind having a look on the Hampshire Board under Murray Family and this is Richard and his family which is also another Brother to Thomas, Jane and John.
I have had a lot of trouble in finding these Murray's but with people on Rootschat they have been very kind in helping, to which I am very, very grateful.  If only I could find the others, it would be great!

Thank you again
Oletta

It seems that the John Murray I am looking for disappears after 1841 census had thought that he may have died but unable to find a death for him either, anybody have any ideas of where I can  look next for John?
