are you also trying to trace backwards?  it would be interesting to try and find Elizabeths first marriage?  ;)

Thats what im trying to find out, that would be my great grandfather but i have no 1 st name for him he died when my Grandfather was only a small boy.

lets start from the 1891 census

John Curran b 1860
Elizabeth Curran b 1859
Margaret Rourke b 1878
Edward Rourke b 1880
Roger Rourke b 1882
James Rourke b 1882
Catherine Curran b 1891

So we know that Elizabeths first marriage is roughly 1877 to 1878,,if she was at least 18 when she got married.

there is a marriage of a James Rourke and an Elizabeth Sykes in 1877 Manchester,,,but you really need one of the childrens birth certificates to prove this is the correct marriage ?  ;)

and  Philip Curran 1895
     
 i also have the Elizabeth Sykes the same as you married to james, if i bought the birth cert of roger rourke would it show both his parents or just his mother.
