Where is great Uncle John Edgar Smith?
« on: Wednesday 26 October 11 09:58 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information regarding my Great Uncle, John Edgar Smith born in Hugglescote/Donington Le Heath in Dec 1892.

Parents:
Benjamin Smith
Born: 16 August 1866 – Brockmoor, Staffordshire.
Married: Alma Annie Measures
Date: 14 March 1892 – Hugglescote, Leicestershire.
Died:  10 December 1938.

Alma Annie Measures
Born: 16 November 1865 – Coalville, Leicestershire.
Married: Benjamin Smith
Date: 14 March 1892 – Hugglescote, Leicestershire..
Died:  27 Aug 1945.

John Edgar SMITH grew up in Margaret Street, Coalville.  He had brothers Harold and William and a sister Iris Gertrude SMITH who died in infancy.

In 1901 he is found in Guttridge Street, Coalville.
In 1911 he is found in Highfield Street, Coalville.

How can I go forwards instead of back in time?  I would like to trace him forwards from 1911, as I must have relatives out there somewhere.

Ian

Smith - Sileby + Coleorton, Leicestershire.
Chamberlain - Sileby, Leicestershire.
Heath - Coleorton, Thringstone + Coalville, Leicestershire.

 DEath

Apr/May/Jun 1979
Hinkley Leics
ref 6 1334

John Edgar Smith age 86
bn 14 Dec 1892

Death cert will give informant, who may be a rellie. And you could see if there is a will.

Difficult to pinpoint a marriage from the indexes, as they only give middle initial and there are pages of John E Smiths in Leicestershire!
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hello. I am John Edgar Smith's great granddaughter. Unfortunately I do not know too much about him. I did manage to find some sketchy information from the whitwick historical group including his signature for working down the pit. I would be very interested to know what information you have found. I have really struggled as Smith is such a common name and I don't have access to ancestry. If there's anything I can help with in regards to john edgar i will try.
Thanks
