Criddeford Marriage to Roberts
« on: Thursday 27 October 11 14:12 BST (UK) »
Hi,
My ancestor, Winifred Hannah Roberts was born in 14 June 1884 in Oswestry.  On her birth cert, its says her father
was Robert Roberts, a Gentlemans Groom, and mother was Mary Jane Roberts, formerly Criddeford.  I have searched Freebmd and am unable to find any marriage information. Can anyone help with this?

Many thanks
Mark

I think that maybe Winifred's mother died?

In 1891 and 1901 census returns, Winifred is with her grandfather and his new wife:

1891, reference RG12, Piece 2062, Folio 86, Page 20
36 Harold Street, Hereford

Criddeford, John  Head  M  52  Cabinet Maker  b Totnes, Devon
Criddeford, Susan  Wife  F  45  b Montgomeryshire
Roberts, Winifred  Granddaughter  F  6  b Oswestry

1901, reference RG13, 2481, 79, 11
38 Harold Street, Hereford

Criddeford, John  Head  M  62  Cabinet Maker  b Totnes
Criddeford, Susan  Wife  F  55  b Llanfair, Montgomeryshire
Roberts, Winnefred  Granddaughter  F  16  b Oswestry

In 1881, John Creddeford is a widower.

Hi,
thanks for your quick reply.  Yes thats is another mystery i am yet to solve! I wonder where her father Robert was aswell.  Being a gentlemans groom, would that mean he would travel a lot?
I am unsure if he had died by that stage as well.
I did come across a Mary Jane Criddeford that died in Denbighshire in Jan 1886, but I thought she was
married and should have been a Roberts by then?

thanks again for your help
