Ragsdale family of East Bridgeford

    I am probably descended from Elizabeth Ragsdale, born East Bridgeford in 1699. She married Matthew Wilson in 1724 and is descended from fifteenth-century Henry Ragsdale, of the Leicestershire village of Ragdale. Godfrey Ragsdale emigrated to Virginia in 1638 and his wife descends from Charlemagne. I'd be interested to hear from anyone interested in these Ragsdales, and hope to discover where Elizabeth is buried. They were in Thurgarton in the 1730s.

Hello Andrew. I wonder if you are still actively researching your Ragsdale ancestors? It doesn't appear that you ever got a response to your query posted in 2011? I have only just joined RootsChat, so have only come across your query now. I am American, descended from Godfrey Ragsdale, but I am now living in and a citizen of the UK, since 1994. I have done a bit of research on the early generations of Ragsdales, visiting East Bridgford on a number of occasions. I would be very intersted to hear what evidence you have that Godfrey's wife was descended from Charlemagne..! Cheers   Ron Ragsdale, Linton, Cambs.
