« on: Sunday 30 October 11 23:30 GMT (UK) »
Please can you find Phillip REES born c1849 Llanfihangel Aberbythich, Carmarthenshire
I have him in the 1871 - 1911 census, in 1871 he was a boarder,  I am hoping to find him with his family in the 1861,
if you find him would it be possible to find him in the 1851 census?

Thank you Ann

Hello Ann  :)

I have spoken to a lady who grew up in this area in the 1920s/1930s and she remembers Bwlch y Groes, which she describes as "a small cottage with 2 rooms at the front, and outbuildings away from the cottage; with about 2 or 3 small fields (a small holding). She told me that religious meetings were held at Bwlch y Groes before the old Chapel was built. In 1920s the Minister was G. Brynmor Thomas and she was Christened by him.

Having heard about the Chapel connection I looked at Genuki and found this article: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/CMN/Hanes13.html#MILO

It mentions Phillip Evans, Bwlchygroes, as a member who took a prominent role in the foundation of the cause there. He was one of the first Deacons at the Welsh Independent Chapel at Milo. Morgan Evans, Bwlch y Groes was also a Deacon.

Perhaps your Phillip Rees is connected; it seems likely, doesn't it?  :)

Herbert Rees, Bwlch y Groes, was a Deacon there in 1925.

Modified - G. Brynmor Thomas wrote a history of the Chapel "Llwybrau Llafur: hanes eglwys annibynnol Milo, Llanfihangel Aberbythych 1828-1968" which is available at Carmarthen Archives or National Library of Wales.

Kindest regards
Morgan
