Elinor Lewis
« on: Thursday 03 November 11 17:29 GMT (UK) »
Could I request a marriage look up please between
David Davies and Elinor Lewis c. 1833.
From the 1851 census Elinor b.c 1811 at Llanllawddog was the daughter of David Lewis b.c 1775 at Abergwilly.
their eldest child John Davies was born c1834 at Llanpumsaint, which is where
all the family were in 1851.

I would also be grateful for any detail on Elinor's birth -and her parents marriage

Many thanks

I cannot find a marriage between a David Davies and Elinor Lewis anywhere.

The nearest I can find is David Davies and Eleanor Thomas 28/2/1833 at Llanpumsaint. Could this be your David and Elinor? Perhaps Elinor was the step daughter of David Lewis.

The only other marriage in that time scale was David Davies and Eleanor Jones 9/6/1835 at Abergwili.

It is almost impossible to find a marriage for David Lewis without the bride's first name as the name is so common.

Hope this is some help,

Regards

their eldest child John Davies was born c1834 at Llanpumsaint, which is where
all the family were in 1851.

In 1841 they had other children so the marriage was probably earlier.

Porthymyrddin? Cottage, Abergwili

David Davies age 35 Labourer
Elenor Davies age 35
Margaret Davies age 10
Mary Davies age 8
John Davies age 5
David Davies age 2
Evan Davies age 3 months

All born in county

HO107 Piece 1383 Book 1 ED 28 Folio 15 Page 6

Note that in 1841 the correct age was to be written for everyone under 15 years of age. For those age 15 and over, the age was to be rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5

Kind regards
Morgan

Sandyq - enjoy your holiday.

Morgan--

I think your family in Abergwili is from the 1835 Abergwili marriage of David Davies and Eleanor Jones, where David Davies is "wid".

David and Elinor Davies are at the same address in 1841,1851, and 1861 - Pantycorrig?, Llanpumpsaint. In 1841 the family is

David Davies age 30  Shoemaker not born in county
Elinor Davies age 30  born in county
John Davies age 8  yes
Adda age 5    yes
Eliza age 3   yes

HO107 Piece 1383 Book 19 ED 2 Folio 19 Page 10

In later census' David is born Llandysul, Cards.

I think this is the first marriage David Davies and Eleanor Thomas 28 Feb 1833, at Llanpumsaint.

Sorry, I messed up the "quote" system!!, and couldn't face rewriting this post.

Agreed Rhosgoch. I couldn't find them in 1841 when I looked, and I noticed that some of the children were born Abergwili on 1851 so thought this was the right family  ::)

Could be Pantycerrig? There is a standing stone there called Pant-y-cerrig

Hi, Noted your Elinor Lewis b. 1811 Llanllawddog and wonder if there is a connection to Thomas Lewis c.1773 Llanllawddog. I cannot seem to find any info. on BMD's of this Parish and have put out a request on the other page for anyone visiting Carmarthen Record Office.
My Thomas Lewis married at St.Elli, Llanelly 1799.
If I find a connection or any info. on Elinor Lewis will get back to you.
Regards, Syljun
