George Gower, Bridgnorth
« on: Saturday 05 November 11 13:17 GMT (UK) »
A friend recently sent me a photo of George Gower of Bridgnorth.
I understand George was quite a well known local character, affectionatley known to everyone as 'Evergreen' and used entertain at local gatherings and OAPS parties ...singsongs etc.
Can anyone tell me anymore about George ?
(I'm sure George died in the 1970's/80's)

Hi Margaret,

As requested, here are two articles from the Bridgnorth Journal that provide information about George GOWER.
The first article was in June 1975 was George was 92.
The second is the report of his funeral in Sept 1977.

Regards,
Gwynne

Dear Gwynne
Thank you for the items about George Gower, they are very much appreciated. I will show them to Sally Ray and Bill Scriven.
Thanks for solving the mystery of how old George was when he died....Bill said he thought he was at least 90. I'm sure he will be fascinated by the articles.
It seems George was a regular at a lot of Alveley village parties in the 1950's/60's....everyone loved to be entertained by George !
Much appreciated  :) :) :) :)
