Soldier TG ?
« on: Thursday 10 November 11 13:01 GMT (UK) »
Probably very simple but I have my Grandfather's Marriage certificate, married in Limerick Ireland and under occupation he is listed as "Soldier TG" Wondering what the "TG" stands for? Territorial Guard I thought maybe? Also would love to get hold of his service records. I know he was in the Irish Guards but clueless as to Service numbers etc. As far as I know he completed his service over in Ireland before moving to Lancashire c: 1927/28

You should be able to find his service record on ancestry.co.uk or similar.

Thanks but have tried them already. May be that his records were amongst those destroyed.

When did the marriage take place and what's listed as his residence?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

The marriage was Sept 1917 at St Josephs Limerick and his address was given as Edward Street, Limerick.
