I am also researching my family tree on my mothers side who was an Hicks, my grandfather was Ernest John Hicks hicks born: 13 Jul 1913 died: 1972 he is buried in Coates Cemetery nr Cirencester.

This is what I know My Grandfather was married to my grandmother Lillian Olive Bailey in 1944 in Stroud Gloucestershire he served in the 5th Battalion the Gloucestershire Regiment (GLOSTERS) I know of 2 brothers, Sydney Hicks Born: 1913 Died: 1985 he is buried in Cirencester, Ben Hicks I have no dates of Birth or Death from memory I think Ben is buried in Hampnet nr Northleach I believe (but cannot confirm) that their parents (my great grandparents) where William Hicks and Elizabeth Smith.
My Grandfather finished his time as a Farmer.
