Hi, can anyone help.  tracing the mother of charles henry humber b.1859 notts.  I`ve sent for the birth certificate and it only states his mothers name so presume hes illegitimate, but has anyone come across his mother mary humber they lived at 18 pear st when he was born. as far as I can tell hes not with his mother in the 1861 census I can`t get to notts so if anyone has any info I would be extremely grateful.

1841C she is transcribed as Hughes/Humber living with parents in Loughborough Leics.

in 1870 she marries 2Q 1870 Nottingham Samuel Wakefield 7b 311

1871C mary Wakefield  Bandelt Court? Nottingham
1881C Wakefields St Ann's Alley, Nottingham

            Samuel 16

Hi, thank you for your email.  It saved me trying to get more info from notts. It certainly seems to be my mary as I can`t find anything else that fits. I`ve traced her father a bit further back and their name appears to be definitely humber I`m going to check if I can find her siblings to see if they moved to notts as well, though it is charles that I`m researching. I`m glad to say he did reasonably well regardless of his start in life, he died in 1924 and left his widow £412.9s.
Once again thank you very much for your help, I know for a fact I would never have figured it out.

No Mary
Although down as james Daug in 1851 Census she could be illeg and the Child of one of the eldest Girls of James/Rachel , either Elizabeth/Sarah or Catherine.
I think her Birth Cert is necessary to confirm.
