Eastwood Kent/ Sussex Gypsy Roots

Hi I am trying to trace my grandfathers ancestors but havent got much to go on! i hope someone can help!!!

Heres what i know

Jimmy, shirley, sylvia, walter, benjamin (my grandfather b:maidstone 1933 d: hastings 1988) and annie.  Parents Benjamin Eastwood and Elizabeth Emmitt.

benjamin eastwood senior parents are James R Eastwood (b: approx 1882) living  gypsy encampment Chatham Kent James Eastwood - Head of House, 19yrs, Clothes Peg Maker, born Blackwater Surrey. Betsy Eastwood - Wife, 19yrs, born Hastings.

they had the following children Benjamin, jack, noah,obe, walter and james who i believe married Fanny Arnold.

It will be worth looking at www.freebmd.org.uk to see if you can find births for any of the children you mention and then you will get the mother's maiden name for all those born after 1911.

Parents Benjamin Eastwood and Elizabeth Emmitt

Your late fathers birth reg shows the spelling as Emmett.  However - although your father was born 1933 - his parents didn't marry until 1941

you may have found what you have been looking for but there was a family of Emmetts/Hemmet/Emmit who originated from Essex but changed their surname to Lee around the early 1900's if it's any help

I used to go to the same school as noah and my girlfreinds sister used to go out with jimmy..eastwoods are from white road estate chatham

Noah was born in 1917 so cannot be the same person - must be  a later generation

I may be able to help my husband is noah eastwood his father was noah eastwood off darling banks his fathers brbtothers were ben walter jimmy  sisters lena annie genty his gran was bettsy also had brother obie and sister fanny and ada he is in his late 70s now was known as ponky
