John McSweeney b Donegal
« on: Tuesday 22 November 11 09:12 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find any information regarding John McSweeney Born 1865? Donegal Ireland. Parents John McSweeney and Agnes Boyce.
A Myles McSweeney is a witness on his marriage certificate in Victoria, Australia. Could be a brother ?
I cannot find anything more about him and am hoping that someone may be able to help me.
Regards

Hi, don't see any church records from Donegal that match your search criteria, unfortunately for research purposes Sweeney is a very common name in Donegal, Mc is very seldom used in the spelling of the name however and is more common in counties Limerick, Waterford and Cork.

Without any other information, Townland or Parish where John may have been born it will prove very difficult to research, how do you know he came from Donegal?

Hi joemc,

Many thanks for your answer. I was not hoping for very much as I know that it is hard to get anything from Irish records.
On the Marriage Certificate it had Birthplace Donegal Ireland.

I cannot find anything else about them.

Thanks again for your reply.
