My Grandfather joined the 64th on 20th July 1942 prior to that he was in hospital recovering from wounds recieved at Dunkirk then back to the 24th until posted.
I have the war diary for the 24th for the Dunkirk campaign and now understand how he ended up with a handful of grenade fragments in his back!!!
Do you have the war diary for the latter part of July?
