finding mothers father

can any one help me find any info on my mothers father as far as i know his name was joe king and he came from the vennel in dumfries my mother was born iileigitamate in 1929 when my gran flora dey was 29 his name king was on my mothers birth certificate my gran was a highland dancer and on my mothers birth certificate it said her occupation was mental nurse i know mt mum was born on govan and she was left with her father where they were living at the time my mother was born in january but was not registred till the april when they went back to collect her  i dont have the adress in govan or dumfries as before my mother died she threw things in the bin
