Sawyer help
« on: Wednesday 23 November 11 16:55 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I'm looking into my family tree on my Dads side and am stuck quite early on with SAWYER, Elizabeth, born 1884, Bright Waltham Berkshire married to Edward A HOLMES, the family seem to disappear after the 1891 census.  I'm going round in circles, does anyone have any information on this family?

Hi

Are you stuck going back? If so - who are her parents on 1891 census? Have you got her birth cert with her Mum's maiden name? Can you then find theparents marriage on FreeBMD?

Or are you stuck going forward, ie after 1891 .. When does ELizabeth marry Mr Holmes? After 1901? Again. who were the rest of her family in 1891, then we can try and look for them in 1901.

You're right Suz - my typo I'm afraid!   :P

I guessed it was Mary Elizabeth, but may be making assumptions...   :-\

I think they're at the same address, listed as SAYER in 1901- RG13; Piece 1122; Folio 99; Page 7

(Mary E isn't with her parents.)

Good find Rambler

If this is the correct family - Robert was a widower by 1901- Amelia had married Frederick Turner .

Police Station

Eliza SAYER    Servant    S    19    General Servant Domestic    Brightwalton Berks
