The MI's have been done for Holy Trinity, unfortunately there is nothing for Israel Blum.

Thank you, Gail for checking. I'm new to family history, what does MI stand for?

Hi Elizabeth

MI = Monumental Inscription

The headstones for Holy Trinity have been transcribed and the inscriptions recorded. This is done so that should the headstones deteriorate there is a record of what was originally there.

Elizabeth,
Have you seen the article in the Times, dated May 16 1866, Issue 25499 Col. G. It gives details of his movements before his murder and of his identification by friends.

Elizabeth,
There is mention that Paul Bloomfield's original surname was Blum, and that he was suspected of murdering his brother James, follow this link:http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/BLOOMFIELD/2011-04/1304123412

Yes, I believe I have read the article and have also correspond with the author of the link you send me. He actually had James, brother Pauls death certificate. Very cool!

I also discovered that Paul was in fact at sea when the murder happened as he landed in Brisbane, Australia, several weeks after James murder. What a relief to learn that his brother did not murder him.

I'm also trying to locate his parents name, it is not on Pauls death certificate. But will keep looking and double checking, passengers list.

Thank you all so much.
Elizabeth

The Bradford Observer May 17, 1866
 There is a large feature on the incident, at the end it states .
Mr Blum was buried in Hoylake, he was born in Germany and his mothers sister resides in Prussia
