Thomas Kirk - Armagh to USA 1911

In Ithaca Journal 1939 March 16th there is an article about the Legion being 20 years old and Thomas having been Commander for 2 Terms.

NO RECORD FOR NEXT 10 YEARS

Another article in the same Newspaper 1949 Oct 3 shows a Photo of Past Commanders. Thomas must have returned to Ithaca for this dinner. It was 30 years from Ithaca Legion Post 221 was set up.

Can anyone find where Thomas went for 10 years?

Born June 18, 1893 in Armagh, Ireland
Person who will always knew his address:  E.B. Wells at same address
Employer's name:  Withope? Holmes Co., 4 Market St., Jamestown, NY
Race:  white
5'9 1/2" tall, 180 lbs., gray eyes, brown hair, ruddy complexion
scar on the right side of his neck

Thanks again shellyesq. Ive tried to find the WW11 card on family search but cant get it. I really am quite amateurish at all this research!!

In 1930 Thomas was on a committee to"encourage Americanization, aid in obtaining Citizenship papers for aliens, instruct in English and the customs & history of the nation."

So with this in mind - Can you think of a reason why Thomas would have crossed the border and joined the Canadian Army?

I have seen other UK immigrants who joined up with them, presumably because they wanted to support their country of origin by fighting.  Canada got into WWI sooner than the US did, but I don't know if that would matter in this case if he was still in the US in 1917-1918.  I don't know if there were any other benefits of choosing Canada over the US.
