James Hobley
« on: Friday 25 November 11 01:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I am hoping someone will be able to help me with this man. I have found his christening on another site listed as 28th May 1769 Eynsham Oxfordshire. His parents are Charles Hobley and Sarah (possibly Treadwell). I have Ancestry but can not find a death reference or marriage reference. Would it be possible for a new set of eyes to see if they can come up with these references.
Thanking you
Sharon :) :) :)

Hi sharona,

I'm not sure if this is your man or not but taken from the "Oxfordshire Archdeacon’s Marriage Bond Index - 1634 - 1849" is this entry;

1767 Hobley, Chas Ensham        James, Sarah Ensham

No other info is shown.

Hi Allan,
Thank you for that it's not James but you did find his father's marriage record which i was looking for also.
Charles Hobley married Sarah james.
The Hobley's are my maternal ancestors and i seem to have a lot of trouble with them. Now i just have to find James and his grandfather Robert.
Thank you again

Why do you think Charles's father was named Robert?

Hi Sharon,

   From OFHS Oxfordshire  Marriage Index....

14 Sep 1807 James Hobley, Cassington to Sarah Treadwell at Great Haseley

This is the only James listed and afraid there is no Robert marriage..

Both James and Sarah left Wills-they are at the ORO

James dated 1836 and Sarah 1839

They baptised quite a few children at Cassington from 1808-he was a butcher

Hi again,
I have just found a christening record on family search for a Charles Hobly for the 29th May 1735 in Brailes Warwick with the parents listed as Thomas and Martha. What does everyone think? Could this be my Charles? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
